Scallie Filmworks Inc. was formed by Chris Long and Erin Donovan in 2017 as a result of a TV first look deal at Warner Bros TV.

Since then, it’s been involved with many ground-breaking projects that have gone on to win multiple awards. Genres and formats include documentaries that have exposed mastermind criminals, A TALE OF TWO THIEVES, provocative festival winning shorts such as MINDFIELD, prestigious television series including THE PATIENT, and two feature films, MOTHER, MAY I? and most recently, THE UP AND COMER.

Our main focus has always been to produce independent feature films and television with a strong, distinctive voice, based on character-driven narratives. Our own international backgrounds and life experiences has shaped our perspectives while creating compelling stories in the USA, UK, and Europe.

Mostly though, we’re excited by stories that deal with universal experiences. Whether dramedy or thriller, our projects strive to push audiences to reexamine their beliefs, inspire them to see the world a different way, or just laugh in recognition.

WRITER

Erin Donovan -- the name may be a tad redundantly Irish, but taking a deep dive into her heritage while writing MAKING GOD LAUGH has been a pure joy. And working on it with her husband Chris Long feels like coming full circle. Having started her career in the 90s as an actor in London in film, TV and theatre, she met Chris in the West End on SNOOPY THE MUSICAL (she played ‘Lucy Brown’. He was the sound engineer. What? Yes, that happened). These days Erin’s turned to writing – currently co-creator with Ken Woodruff on a one-hour crime drama series in development for Amazon TV, titled TOTAL CHAOS set in Marseille, France. Erin is also a co-creator on a ½ comedy, ROME/ROME, with UCP/Fuzzy Door Productions. Previously, she was a writer on NBC UniTV series THE ENEMY WITHIN (created by Ken Woodruff) and the WB/CBS series, THE MENTALIST. Erin also has an independent horror feature, LAKE PURGATORY, with Vortex Media/Parallila Pictures and set for production in Canada winter 2025.

Last year Erin developed a historical drama with Bruno Heller, HOUSE OF ISABEL (her original script was featured on The Blacklist and was a Sundance Episodic Lab finalist). Prior to that, she also collaborated with Bruno Heller on a drama series, UNTOLD, for ITV UK. This series was originally inspired by a documentary Erin wrote/produced about the Great British Train Robbery, A TALE OF TWO THIEVES, distributed by Virgil Films/Netflix.
